I like almost everything. So I find the whole world a most fascinating place to travel. I am very passionate about history, which connects with my interest in languages and cultures. All that comes through in the podcast in various ways.
Go Tell It On The Mountain
Hi everyone! This is a collection of my weekly sermons, and an occasional special service. It may at times also include a special message or study that I have presented somewhere. I occasionally speak to other groups outside of our church.
Keeping Your Focus
by Mike Hanson
17 Jan 2010 at 11:00amJesus had a clear sense of his destiny; meaning he had a clear vision of his ministry. Along came a wedding feast and he was called upon to fulfill a family obligation. He did so, but made it clear that his destiny was not therein contained. He kept a clear focus on his vison. And Mary trusted that. We need to keep the same kind of desire to Will One Thing, and let God take care of the rest.
Our Mission
by Mike Hanson
24 Jan 2010 at 11:00amAfter the wedding in Cana, Jesus returned to his home town. Many of those hometown folks had been at the wedding and had witnessed the sign of water changed to wine. They wanted a miracle in their town as well. But they are missing the point of Jesus' ministry. He's not about making lots of wine. He is about binding up the broken-hearted. That's our mission as well.

Paradox
by Mike Hanson
7 Mar 2010 at 11:00amGod's ways appear paradoxical to us in scripture. We have to die to live and if we want to live we will die, and so on. But there is a rhyme and reason to God's ways that demonstrate his marvelous love for us.
To Know Christ
by Mike Hanson
21 Mar 2010 at 12:00pmWe do a lot of things in our relationships. But the essence of the relationship is intimacy. This is true of our human relationships as well as our relationship with God. All the things we do are not nearly as important as the intimacy we share.
Jesus, Incarnated in Flesh
by Mike Hanson
28 Mar 2010 at 12:00pmWhen Jesus became human, he emplied himself of all divinity while on earth. The Holy Spirit came upon him and, as he said to the people in Nazareth, he preached, healed and set free. The writer to the Hebrews therefore said we have now a High Priest Jesus who understands us intimately. We can approach him in prayer therefore with confidence.
Give a good word, Glorify God
by Mike Hanson
6 Jun 2010 at 12:00pmWords speak either life or death to others and to ourselves. A gripe travels 10 times faster than a compliment. So if we want to see God glorified in our midst, we have to be sure to get the good word out, not the bad one. 9 ungrateful lepers were healed that gave God no glory. Don't be one of them.
